RALEIGH and WILMINGTON, NC, June 13, 2018 — Well Care Health, a leading in-home care provider, today announced that it has hired Susan Jackson as the new Chief People Officer. This is a brand new role for the company and an expansion of its Senior Leadership team.
Jackson will spearhead human capital initiatives for Well Care Health across all service areas. This includes leading the organization’s strategies in talent acquisition, culture, retention, staff training, and employee leadership development, along with compensation and benefit design. Jackson will cultivate an organizational design to maximize the company’s overall performance, scalability, and sustainable growth opportunities as the agency expands its territory and service lines.

“I’m thrilled to join Well Care Health as the Chief People Officer,” said Jackson. “Well Care’s commitment to patient excellence through its talented employee base is remarkable. My primary focus will be to harness our talent, and connect Well Care’s employees to the overall mission of the company. We want to ensure that our talent acquisition strategies continue to evolve and innovate with employee development. Well Care’s goal is to attract and retain the best healthcare talent across our service areas that support our focus on patient experience and quality,” she said.
Jackson brings more than 25 years of executive leadership in healthcare to Well Care Health, with extensive experience driving strategic organizational, talent acquisition, and performance programs. Prior to joining Well Care Health, Jackson served as the Chief Operating Officer for C3 HealthcareRX, a start-up company focused on improving patient outcomes through medication management and pharmacy services. While there, she led operational strategies for the clinical, pharmacy, human resources, and customer care teams. Jackson also served as Vice President of Health Delivery Redesign for BlueCross Blue Shield of North Carolina. During her three-year stint, she spearheaded a new start-up division aimed at designing innovative partnerships with Accountable Care Organizations. Jackson spent 22 years at WakeMed Health and Hospitals in the Operational, Human Resource and Workforce Development arena. She served in multiple roles, including Director of Workforce Development and Human Resources, Vice President and Chief Learning Officer, and Executive Director of Network Development.
“Susan Jackson is a tremendous addition to our Senior Leadership team,” said Zac Long, CEO of Well Care Health. The decision to hire a Chief People Officer aligns with our strategic goals to continue supporting and investing in Well Care’s employees, our most valuable asset. An accomplished leader in the talent acquisition, culture, and retention space, Susan brings a wealth of experience to the table, along with her knowledge and passion for people. We are thrilled to welcome her to Well Care,” Long added.
Jackson’s addition to Well Care Health’s Senior Leadership team comes amid a growth period for the company’s home care division, which recently opened a new office in Guilford County. The agency plans to expand across North Carolina state lines and offer other in-home health care services in the future.
